This is a rare and charming vintage model of miniature sewing machine, manually operated and with metal construction, made by the Essex Engineering Works from 1946 - 56. 
The machine is in good cosmetic condition and all parts move smoothly in full rotation when the hand crank is turned. Size approximately 25.5 x 20 x 11.5 cm.
This would make a lovely first sewing machine for an adventurous young sewist or a sweet travelling companion for those with a large and bulky everyday sewing machine. It also makes a gorgeous display piece for a workshop, sewing room or shop window.
Comes with its original extension board, desk clamp and robust carry box, the right closure of which tends to spring open and may require attention. The accompanying instructions are a simple reprint of the scanned pages of the original booklet held on file by the Essex Engineering Works, obtained with permission.
